May Editor's Choice: "Autumnal Parade"

ree

Pale moon in a cold blue sky Morning sun ascends On its way to a shallow meridian. Slick blacktop wet avenue Wisps of steam rise A gift to the autumnal queen Ushering winter in.

Grass so green in the plump soft earth Galaxies of daisies, dandelion and buttercup Gold and white for the sun and the moon Under a pale blue sky. An autumnal parade Dragging out the night Limiting the hours of the sun We march toward the solstice lull The seasons tide is running low. © PETER RIMMER New Zealand
